Recital Tickets!

Dear all,

The tickets will be ready to distribute this Saturday. Each family will get 2 free tickets.

$5 for April Rain students to purchase for your family and friends.

This Sunday 4/3 Performance

Dear all,

This Sunday 4/3, we'll perform at the Riverbend Church, 4214 N Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746. If you cannot make it and haven't told me yet, please let me know now. We have only this Saturday's classes to make arrangement accordingly.

Arrive at the church by 2:15. The event starts at 3:00 and our performance time is about 3:30 - 3:45. We will take the time before the event to walk on the stage and get ourselves ready.

This is a great opportunity that we can take not only as a performance but also as the dress rehearsal for our recital. Time is limited. I first intended just to put up the group dances but have to include 2 solos so that Butterfly and Rabbit will get enough time to change costumes. Please check the dance list below and let me know if you have questions/suggestions.

This Saturday's Classes 4/2

Dear all,

No need to bring in costumes this Saturday. However, DO come with your hair up into a bun! At the dress rehearsal last Saturday, the most problematic thing was the hair and hair pieces. 

Let's practice on putting up the hair. Make sure that the bun is good enough to last for the whole time! Don't let the hair get loose and drop the hair pieces and ruin the beauty of the dances!

Please still get your costumes ready at home. Try them on to see if you need to alternate some. Label each piece.

Dress Rehearsal THIS SATURDAY!

Dear Butterfly class,

We'll have our first dress rehearsal this Saturday 3/26 in the studio. I'm sending this email to each class for the specific information. If you have students in different classes, you'll receive it more than once.

Please come with your hair done and NOT in your costumes. We'll practice the dances in the first 30 minutes wearing regular dance clothes. Then we'll change into costumes before rest of rehearsal. Makeup is not necessary, 

Hair: put up into a bun. No bangs, no loose hair. Bring bobby pins to secure the head pieces.

Costumes: Including from head pieces to shoes. Write your name on a tape and stick it to every piece of your costumes. Put each set of the costumes in separate plastic bags and write your name on them. You must be able to grab the right costumes and change in a very short time, like in 5 minutes.

ALSO: NUDE TIGHTS

Your children will need to wear nude color tights. I believe most of you have them already. If not, you may find them at Target or Walmart. 

Be aware that we'll have to change in the same room. If you feel uncomfortable, you may wear a nude color body suite or bring a big towel as a cover.

Costumes to bring: Red Flowers (blue), Tibetan. Will bring you the just arrived contemporary dance (Raindrops) costumes. If you haven't paid and didn't get the costumes yet, please remember to bring the payment.

Everyone please do make the class! Not much time left for the recital. Let's put on our best dances!!!

Mark Calendars: Sun. April 3 Performance!

Dear all,

We are invited to perform at the Riverbend Church, 4214 N Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746, on Sunday 4/3. For detailed information on the event, please read the attached message.

This church has a magnificent stage and the time we have is up to 45 minutes. I therefore want to take this opportunity as the pre-performance (dress rehearsal) for our recital. We'll put up all the new group dances from each class. Everyone please do participate!

Our performance time is 3:45. We need to be there no later than 2:45 to get ready.

The ticket price up there is $10. There will be 2 free tickets for each April Rain family. You may also purchase more tickets for anyone else for $5.

All of us are working so hard for our recital. We are going to have a great one, a best ever!

This is the Gladney Family Association putting this on. This is a small group. We are a group of families that have all adopted either Internationally or donestically living here in the Austin area. We all try to stay in touch & support one another. One way is by doing family events so the the children can play together & know they have other friends whose families are also made through the love of adoption. 

There will be maybe 60 people including kids in attendance.  The theme is an International picnic. We celebrate that families are made from all nationalities & we should learn to embrace & love all nationalities. 

This event is from 3pm-5pm

This year we will have an Irish dance group first at 3pm. They say their performance will be 30-45min. 

Then ya'll at approximately 3:45pm for 30-45min.  

We are flexible on the time of the performance whatever ya'll want to do. We are happy with a small or large group. We know sometimes it is difficult to take time out on a weekend for your dancers. 

The last 30 minutes we will have a Russian singer playing a traditional Russian Instrument. 

We are super excited to have our families learn about your dance group as we have many families made with love from China. So they might be interested in having their children participate in a group like yours to help their families embrace their roots & traditions. 

This event is very relaxed and family oriented so please feel at ease to do whatever makes your performers comfortable.

We will have barbeque & drinks for our families and  we want the performers to enjoy some food with our families if they wish.

Butterfly & Rabbit classes: Costumes!!

Dear Butterfly and Rabbit Classes,

How exciting! It's time to have our new beautiful costumes! 

Butterfly: 

Tibetan River: $70

The Contemporary Dance: $45

Rabbit:

Tibetan River: $70

Jasmine $40

We'll bring the costumes to class tomorrow. Please make the payment then. 

I have to say a few more words about the Tibetan costumes. Please take extra good care with them. It takes lots of effort to have them made in China and get them over. It's impossible to re-make another one because the tailor may not find the same fabric and accessories anymore. Also, each costume has 8 pieces. No extra pieces are available. Therefore, after the recital, everyone bring this costume back and let us keep them for you. We'll bring them to you whenever you need them. Just to make sure that nothing is missing. Thanks for understanding!
